Easiest Pineapple Peeler Ever

Several months ago, I started buying real pineapples because they taste so much better than the canned ones. They are much sweeter and juicier. But it is a pain in the rear to cut them up. To cut all of the rine off and all the little rivets in the pineapple. Ugh.

So, I ordered a pineapple peeler from Jennifer's Pampered Chef party. I admit I was skeptical but I wanted to give it a try. I got it like a month ago, but I just now have a pineapple so I used it tonight. You cut the ends off of both ends and set it flat on the cutting board and then you just cut through it like an apple cutter. I was amazed. So, I took a picture.

It cuts the core right out of it and cuts it in to two halves. I just chopped it up into little chunks. The only other thing I did was cut a little sliver off of the sides, because they had just a little sliver of good pineapple on there.
FYI. If you like real pineapples, this is a great investment.

Walmart Customer Service

So, I bought groceries after work. I got home and realized that I was short one sack. So, I got my receipt and check marked all the things I didn't have. I called Wal Mart and they told me that I could bring my receipt up there. So, we did. I got in line at 7:50. I got up to the counter at 8:00 and the guy told me that I could go get all my stuff and bring it back to the counter. So, I thought well i'll go get it and if that guy is still there maybe he will let me come up there and not have to wait in line. So, I walked all over the store and got my stuff and go back to the counter and there are 3 people in front of me and the guy I talked to was gone. At 8:10 I got back to the counter. The guy had to go through the upc codes on all the things I had and on my receipt.

Ok. Wait. The girl in front of me was returning a $50 can of baby formula.

So, at 8:20 he finally let me take my stuff and go.

I spent 30 minutes in that Wal Mart. Sometimes I strongly dislike Wal Mart.

Vacation Bible School

So, Hadley is old enough this year to go to Vacation Bible School. It started last night and will end on Friday. We got there last night and he was clinging on to his dad like crazy. Wouldn't even put his nametag on. We got back to the room and he wouldn't even sit in the chair. He was so clingy. But then after we got there to pick him up, he was HAPPY! He talked about it on the way home and they made a cross that he was VERY proud of. So, when we got home I took his picture with his cross.
So, this morning, he asked me about 4 times before we got to school if we were going to Vacation Bible School after real school. And I kept telling him yes. He was so excited. He even took his cross in the car this morning. So, we got home today and he was excited! We got there today and he waltzes up to the door, got in, slapped his nametag on and then waltzed back to the room. I was cracking up. He went up to his row and sat down and last night his teacher had to pry him away. So, I think he had fun. We got there to pick him up tonight and he was CRANKY! I don't know what his problem was. I think he must be tired. He didn't want to talk to anybody or give hugs or anything. But I still think he enjoyed it.

Father's Day

Hi everybody! I haven't wrote in a while so I thought I would say hi! We haven't been doing much. Last Wednesday, Hadley spent the night with Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Michael and all of the cousins. I think they had a grand ol time. Hadley had a lot of fun. This week was a long week and I'm glad its almost over.
This weekend, we are going to mom's house on Saturday for Father's Day. Tomorrow we are going to see my grandma and grandpa in Shawnee and Hadley is spending the night with my mom.

Tonight, Hadley gave his dad the gifts we made for him. We got him 3 little jars with candy in them, a DAD picture frame and a coupon book. He was excited to give him his gifts. We had fun making them. Here are some pictures:

Has anybody been watching "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here"? If you haven't, don't. It might possibly be the most annoying show in the whole world.

Ok. I think that's it. I hope you all have a great weekend.

This week

I haven't blogged all week! Why is it that the shortest weeks always feel like the longest??
Saturday we went to Trey and Hollie's wedding. Sunday, we went to my mom's church and then house and we cleaned some stuff up and cooked out. It was fun.

Monday was Memorial Day and we went with Melissa and the boys to a Texas Rangers game. Steve and Cheryl drove down too and went shopping. We had a great time. They played the Yankees and the place was packed. Our seats were "all you can eat" seats. So, we got to eat whatever we wanted. Hadley ate 2 hot dogs, nachos, a chicken sandwich, some cotton candy and some popcorn. I didn't think he could eat that much! Our seats were in the shade and it was awesome.

The rest of the week was long. And I am certainly glad it is the weekend.

Tim is building a dog house. Hadley is watching Bolt. And I was doing laundry until I sat down to write my blog.

And now I have to tell you about Hadley's SpiderMan sandals. Most of you may know that me and Tim are not fans of shoes or clothing that have Spider man, Elmo, anyone else on it. I don't think we've ever let Hadley have a pair of shoes that had Elmo on them or Spiderman or lights. Not that it's bad. Lot's of kids have those shoes, we've just never really been a fan.

So, last night, we went to eat with my mom and sister and we went shopping after that. My sister found Hadley a pair of Spiderman velcro sandals. I wish ya'll could've seen the look on Hadley's face. When I first saw them I was like..uh no. And then he came and asked me if he could have them and the poor child looked like he had been deprived all of his life. So, we got them. We were at Penneys. My sister changed out his shoes so he could wear them. We decided we were going to walk from Penney's to Kohls. In Midwest City. We had to walk about .1 miles per hour. He was stopping and looking at his shoes and just beaming. And then he would walk a little bit more and stop and look at his shoes and then smile some more. I felt like I had deprived him of never having Spiderman shoes. There are just no words to describe how he looked. It was just so funny. So, last night we got home, got ready for bed, Tim took his shoes off and put them on his nightstand and said...when you wake up in the morning, they will be right there so you can see them. Well, then we ended up letting him make a pallet in our room. The minute he woke up this morning, he asked about his shoes. He ran in his room and found them and put them right on. It was just so funny watching him and how happy he was.

Anyway. I hope you all have a great weekend! I don't think we have anything planned this weekend! Hopefully, we can get caught up on some stuff and get some rest and relaxation!!! Love ya!

Playing Catch

Is everybody watching American Idol?? I hope Kris wins!

Anyway, I think it might possibly have been 20 years, since I played catch. Wait, I did play with my mom some when I was a teenager. Tonight we went and bought a glove for me and a ball and played catch with Hadley. Then he got tired and me and Tim played for a long time. It was really fun. And relaxing. We just came in and now we are watching American Idol.

Ok. And now for my sad story of the day. I came home with a horrible headache and didn't want to cook so we went to Taco Bueno. We sat down and this little black girl was sitting in the booth behind us and she started talking to me and Hadley while Tim was getting our food. She was talking about how she knew her colors and wanted us to guess how old she was. She was adorable. So, then Tim asked her if her mom worked there and she said yes. And then she started telling us that her mom was mean to her. She would spank her for no reason even when she didn't do anything. But her grandma was nice. It was so sad. So, at one point she went up to the counter and her mom yelled at her from behind the counter and told her to go back and sit down. And was yelling at her from behind the counter. Then her mom took her in the back. I just thought it was terrible number one that her mom didn't have anywhere to take her to while she worked. Number two that her mom was mean to her. I just thought the whole thing was terrible. I know some people don't have a choice. I just thought it so sad. I don't know. I don't think it was a coincidence that she was there, I wish I could've taken her home.

We are at home today

Hadley was not feeling well this morning so we are at home today. I can't find my thermometer to take his temperature, but he feels really warm. Now, he says that his ear hurts. I gave him some medicine. Hopefully, that will make him feel better. Now we are watching cartoons. There are some funky cartoons on during the day.

He almost scared me to death earlier. I was in the back of the house and he was sitting in the chair watching tv. He starts screaming so loud! I thought there was a fire or lion or bear in the living room. No, it was a spider. Like, a spider so small that it almost blended in with the carpet. I don't know how he even saw it. I almost had a heart attack he was screaming SO LOUD! But we got it taken care of.

Busy Busy Busy Busy Weekend

So, yesterday, we went to Kirklands and got the following:

This is a painting and some sconces that we bought for the main wall in the front room.

This is a wall hanging we got for our bedroom and we hung it above our bed.

We also got some vases we are going to put flowers in for each side of the tv on the mantle and we also got some stuff for the decorations in the kitchen.

Then today, we went to Bob Mills and bought us a new kitchen table. It is so pretty. Here is what the chairs look like:

Do you notice anything missing? A table maybe? Well we got everything home, unpacked everything, finally unpacked the table and a corner of it was broken off. Tim almost had a heart attack. He was so tired by that time anyway. So, we are taking it back tomorrow and get a new one.

We've had a good weekend. I am tired at the moment.

So, I went to the Dollar General yesterday and among other things bought a box of Lucky Charms. I maybe eat a bowl of Lucky Charms once every 6 months. I'm more of a Frosted Flakes or Shredded Wheat kinda person. Don't know why, but the box of Lucky Charms was calling my name. So, on the way home, I was looking at the box and it said that you could win a $5, $10 or $25 gift card if there is one in your box. So, then I got curious and opened the box in the car. And sure enought there was a gift card in there. I opened it up and it was for $5. Don't know if it will work or not, but I thought it was funny.

Longest Week Ever

I haven't blogged in almost a week! This has been the longest week and I'm not even really sure why! Yesterday, I could barely stay in my chair I wanted to leave so bad. We haven't done a whole lot this week.

Wednesday night we went to Michael and Jennifer's to watch LOST and there were a bunch of storms. Rick Mitchell cut off the last 30 minutes of the season finale because there was a tornado warning. So, we were mad about that.

Then, last night, we went to the May Daze in Blanchard. It was fun. We got an Indian Taco and a funnel cake. Hadley rode a big slide and him and Cherly rode the ferris wheel. Glen and Melissa and Blake and Dalton were there. We had a lot of fun. Then more storms rolled in, so we went home. When we got home and went to bed, it was raining SO HARD and there was hail. It sounded terrible. Then we went to get the dogs and put them in the garage and they were soaking wet. The top of their house had blown off. Tim is going to build them a new dog house. And Sadie still keeps getting out of the yard. Tim has her chained up. We don't know what to do with her. Tim says it's no kind of life to be chained up like that. But she is an escape artist. She will get out of every kind of contraption you can imagine.

So, today, I got up and did some laundry and cleaned up the house a litttle bit. Waiting on cinnamon rolls to come out of the oven. Typing a blog. That's about it.

We are going to go to Kirkland's today I think. I want to get some decorating stuff for the house.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

I'm 31!

and I don't feel that much older. I had a great time yesterday and today with my family. We went to church with my mom and sister today and went to eat at Cracker Barrell with everybody early this morning. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. And tomorrow we are having our birthday lunch at work. So, I'm excited about that too. Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!

Birthday Dinner

Hi everybody! We went out for our birthday dinner tonight at Cheddars. It was really good. We got a free cookie monster which is even better. Then we went to the grocery store and bought some stuff for the party tomorrow. Then we came home and so far I have: cleaned the bathroom, made chocolate covered strawberries, made some "puppy chow", the crispix and chocolate/peanut butter yummy stuff and now I am sitting down for the rest of the night I think. We are watching some kind of Serengeti Africa documentary. Hadley thinks it's the greatest thing on earth.

Smoke Alarms

So, when Tim got home from work today, there was a blaring alarm. You could hear it outside. And he immediately thought it was the house alarm. So, he got on the phone with the alarm company and they said it wasn't their system it was the fire alarms. So, we started taking the batteries out of them and they went off. And THEN they came back on. It was so nerve racking. We were running around, we had ear plugs in, pretty sure Tim raised his voice at me. HA! He was irritated. So, we finally got them to go off and the builder came over. He sent me to the Dollar Store to get batteries. I swear he told me 5 times to go to the dollar store. And I pointed my finger at him and told him he'd already told me that. It was so NERVERACKING!!! WE WERE GOING CRAZY! But we got it all figured out except for the one that caused all the problem. We put a new battery in it and it still made all of the other ones ring. So, we left that one unhooked. By the time we got done it was like 7:00 and then we ate supper and now it's already past Hadley's bedtime and it feels like it's 6:15. Ha!

My 30th year of life.....

Most of you know that I will turn 31 next Sunday. I have known some people that had meltdowns when they turned 30. Either because they think they are old now or because they did not accomplish what they had hoped too before they turned 30. I have not had a meltdown, although I am prone to meltdowns lately. I think more than anything, this year, I have contemplated on the things that I am most thankful for. And perhaps, have not been that thankful for before, or may have just taken it for granted. I hope to not ever take these things for granted from now on.

1. I have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

2. I have a loving husband who never fails to remind me that I was made just for him.

3. I have a son who is bright and smart and charming and beautiful and who was made just for us to parent.

4. I almost died, Jesus healed me and I live to tell about it. I don’t know why that happened or how that happened, and I may never know, but I do know that our God is able and he is big enough to do ANYTHING…ANYTHING, make you president of the United States if he wants too, and that is a big concept to wrap your mind around.

5. I have a wonderful family! I have the best parents in the world (I know everyone says that) but I really do! J My mother is my best friend and that is a true blessing to me. I have awesome in-laws who are less like in-laws but more like adopted parents. I have a sister and brother and sister-in-laws and nephews that make life fun.

Another thing that I have contemplated during this year is that I am relatively quiet, and don’t speak up for myself a whole lot. I’ve “decided” that there are certain things that I usually just don’t speak up about that I will not continue to do anymore. Tim said the other day….”You are deciding a lot of things lately”… And here is my compiled list of things I have decided:

1. I am tired of people telling me to shut up.

2. I am tired of people taking my favorite pens from my desk. From now on, I will buy myself some pens that I like, and I will put them in my pen jar, and put a pen out on my desk for people to use when they come in my office. Sort of like the chained pen at the bank counter.

3. Sometimes, I like to share meals. There are other times that I share meals just because I don’t want to say anything. I will no longer do that. If I want to, then I will. If I don’t, then I will speak up.

4. I do not EVER speak up about food that I get at a restaurant that is bad. I got a salad at Old Chicago the other day and the lettuce was so bad it was clear, it was almost see thru. It was disgusting. Tim actually spoke up before I did, because he didn’t want me to have to, but I had already decided that I was going to. I will speak up.

5. I will TRY to not be so stubborn. Note the word “try’. When we moved into the new house, me and Tim had a standoff about putting the tv on the mantle. THE BRAND NEW BEAUTIFUL MANTLE! He was going to drill holes in it and what if we had to take it down and there would be holes in it and what about my beautiful family picture I was going to put up there and what if and but and what if and blah blah blah. He wanted it. I didn’t. So, Tim went and bought a $100 tv stand to put it in the corner. I guess I had a moment of brilliance and it came to me that, if you put the tv up there OR a picture, you won’t see the holes and there will always be something up there. What does it matter? It was just me being stubborn and I didn’t want to mess it up because it was brand new. So, the tv is now on the mantle. And on top of that, I was going to drill holes in the mantle to put a picture up there? How dumb is that? So, anyway, I’ve decided to not be so stubborn. Hopefully. And I love the tv on the mantle.

And there’s more that I’ve contemplated. Tim is right. I have been contemplating and deciding a lot. You know when you were in high school and you had to go talk to the high school counselor and she would “counsel” you about what you wanted to do when you graduated? And she would always say…think about the things you like to do and you should get a job doing something you like to do. And then you went off to college and got a degree and got a job doing something you didn’t like? That’s probably not how it went for everyone but that’s how it went for me. I’ve worked for the state for 10 years, can you believe that? It’s not necessarily what I would like to do, but then again, I don’t really know what I would like to do. My friend Misti and I have a plan to open a cupcake shop. Or a convenience store in the complex where we work. They definitely need one. Or a home health agency? Or become a dentist that has disability facilities? Heck if I know. But for the last 3 months or so I have had this yearning to open my own business. But on the flip side, I have no start up money, and I’m not even sure what business I would like to open. And then you think about health insurance, which I have to have, equipment, rent, blah. I just feel like God is speaking to me about that. I’m not sure why. But, that’s another thing I’ve been contemplating lately.

Another item is a family home. My mother is putting the family home up for sale to afford putting my dad in a nursing home. I think I’ve known for years that it would come to that. There have been times that I have been sad and times that I have been hopeful. You just never know what you might get from me. It is sad to think of my dad in a nursing home. It is sad to think of my mom keeping on going the way she is with dad at home. It is sad to think of someone else living in our family home. It is sad to think of such significant change in our family. There are many issues to think of. All of the things to clear out, finding a buyer for the house, what my dad will think, where will they live after selling the house?? Many things. It is sad to think of having a Christmas somewhere other than our family home. It is sad and strange and overwhelming. And yet, I still have whims of…..what if it could be a good change? What if there could be a bright new fresh glimpse of life in this change? I think there could be. God knows what will happen. He orchestrated it all. He must know what the ending will be. How can we go wrong if we know we are doing what we are supposed to do? Hmmm. Contemplation…

So, this is a summary, of my 30th year of life and the life changes I have contemplated. I have not been sad that I am one year older. That’s all it is. One year. I hope the next 30 years are as awesome as the first 30 years.

Friday Night

Hi everybody! We are just sitting here watching Howie Do It. I love that show. They do the craziest things. Tim made us grilled cheese for supper and they were yummy. I don't think we have anything planned for this weekend. We are going to Trey and Hollie's shower on Sunday. I think that's all we have planned. Ya'll have a good night!

Great Wolf Lodge

Hi everyone! Hope you had an awesome day today. Well, I promised that I would talk about Great Wolf Lodge and then my tooth situation got in the way, which I'll discuss later.

Great Wolf Lodge was awesome. It is huge and they have everything you could ever need. We got there Friday night and got checked in and then went swimming. They have a wave pool and a lazy river which were pretty cool. Then they have a kiddie play land which had little slides and sprayers and all kinds of stuff. They also had sort of like a big toy for everybody. They had two slides that everyone could slide down and they had all kinds of buckets and sprayers that you could dump on the people below. But then, they had a bucket. Not any ordinary bucket, but like a water tower sized bucket. And about every 7 minutes, this bell would start ringing, which meant, that it was full of water and time to empty. It would tip over and the whole bucket of water would fall over the whole big toy. It was so much water. One time, we were standing right under the water and it left marks on Tim's arms. Then they had an adult hot tub and a kiddie hot tub and a swimming pool for everyone that had those floating animals in it. But, then. The motherload was the "tower". It had 5 slides on it, I think. The Tornado, the River Valley ride, and then 3 other tube rides. And they were the most awesome. The Tornado, you are in this raft and you end up in this huge tornado shaped thing and you are sliding from side to side, way up high. It was fun, but it was kinda scary. Almost felt like you were going to fall out of the raft. The River Valley ride was also in a tube and it was a little more relaxed. Then there was a green tube, an orange tube and a yellow tube. The green tube spit you out in this huge bowl thing, Tim called it the toilet bowl, and it was pretty fun. But mom and me really liked the orange tube. It went outside and then came back in and it was just the right mix of speed and non-scariness. :) There was also an outside part that they opened up on Saturday afternoon. It had a pool and two more tubes that were pretty fun. Friday night when we got there we went swimming and then went to eat at Spring Creek BBQ. Then Saturday, we got up and went to eat at IHOP and then swam until around 1. Then we went to eat lunch and came back and swam until about 6 I think. Then we were going to go to this buffett in the hotel, but it was a little on the pricy side. Any guessess?? It was $20 per person and $10 for kids. It would have cost us $100 for all us to eat there. So went to eat at Cozymels. And let me just say. That if you are in the area...DO NOT go to Cozymels. It was gross and had terrible service. Anyway. Then Sunday, we got up and just ate donuts at the hotel and swam until noon or so. It was a great vacation. It was mom's idea and it was a great idea. Thanks mom! We all had a blast and Hadley had so much fun. Monday night, he was rocking with his dad, before bed and he was saying...I get in, I get out, I get in, I get out and finally Tim asked him what he was getting in and out of and Hadley said...the swimming pool.... He cracked me up.

So, then Monday, I had a dentist appointment. I had a tooth, that a long time ago, I had a root canal on there was a crown on top. Well then last year the crown came loose and it has started to hurt me. So, last Friday, I went to the dentist and they put me on antibiotics and told me that there was still decay under the crown and the rest of the tooth would have to come out. Like all the roots and everything, down to the bone. It was kind of confusing. So, Monday, I went and had the tooth pulled. I have dentist phobia, but they gave me gas and it was like everything was A-OK. I was a little freaked out because they put stitches in there. They told me that they would disolve but it is really weird feeling in my mouth. Anyway, Monday night, the lortab was wearing off and it wouldn't stop bleeding. Then Tuesday, the pain medicine was making me throw up and my head was hurting bad. But today, I think I am ok. My tooth is still hurting, but not unbearable. My head is ok. And I've been taking half of a pain pill and that has not made me throw up. So, hopefully, I'm getting better.
Anyway. I have one Hadley funny for you today. I kept Hadley home with me today, because I was staying home from work and I didn't want to get out in the rain. So, we were watching tv and this infomercial came on for something called a Touch-N-Brush, that you put on your wall and push your toothbrush under there and it squirts out some toothpaste on there. Well Hadley was watching it and he said......I think I need one of those. I cracked up

New Blog

Hi Everybody, I got a new blog. I don't hardly get on myspace anymore, and facebook doesn't have a blog and I wanted to keep everyone up to date on us and the funny things Hadley does. But tonight, after, getting it all set up, I am tired and going to bed. :) I hope you all have a great day tomorrow and tomorrow I will tell you all about Great Wolf Lodge. Good night!
